Private Party Transfers - PLEASE READ the terms below!

Private Party Transfer Requirements

Both parties (buyer and seller) must be present at the time of the appointment to initiate the transfer.

• A valid California Department of Motor Vehicles ID card or driver license
• If the seller does not have a Real ID, a valid birth certificate or passport must accompany the ID or driver license
• IDs or driver licenses marked “Federal Limits Apply” are not considered Real ID

• For handgun transfers, the buyer must have a valid Firearm Safety Certificate (FSC) or a California CCW
• For long gun transfers (rifles or shotguns), the buyer must have a valid Firearm Safety Certificate, California CCW, or a valid California hunting license
• When transferring a handgun, the buyer must provide two additional valid government-issued proofs of residence (for example: hunting or fishing license, utility bill, or vehicle registration)

• If the buyer or seller does not have all required documents at the time of the appointment, a new appointment must be made online at the buyer’s or seller’s expense
• Firearms that are not in California-compliant configuration will not be transferred
• If the buyer is determined to be anything other than “approved,” including “undetermined,” the seller must make arrangements with Fred’s Firearms to regain possession of the firearm
• The initial $10 appointment fee is non-refundable under any circumstances and will be applied to the total transfer cost at the time of the appointment
• Customers must arrive within 10 minutes of their scheduled appointment time. Late arrivals will forfeit their appointment and must reschedule online
